Description: This work is a somewhat open ended collection of photographs taken of abstractions that result from things left behind by those who pass through the city. The images explore a line between abstraction and representation, narrative content and materialism that exists beyond a particular place or story. In this sense, this work explores the line between the specifity of a site in which something takes places and the generality of that occurance and the material effect that results. This exploration is brought to the foreground when particular photographs become the source of paintings (coming soon) that invest the image with a new materiality and attention given to their creation by the maker using a brush rather than camera.
